The long awaited fight between American boxer, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will hold at the MGM Arena, Las Vegas on May 2nd.

Members of the English football community, especially those of the 1960 era send in tributes following the death of Dave Mackay who died on Monday evening at the Queen’s Medical Centre.

Dave was a former Tottenham player who helped the club to the 1961 titles double, winning the league as at then and the FA Cup; becoming the first and only Spurs side to do so.

The Scot was instrumental at every side he played.

After helping Spurs to a double, he left for Derby County in 1968 and helped them gain promotion to the firs division.

He retired as an active footballer in 1971.

Old clubs and players who followed the path of Mackay pay tribute to him.

A statement on Tottenham's website read: "We were saddened to hear of the death of our former captain Dave Mackay who passed away at the Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, this evening (Monday, March 2). He was 80.

"He was a superb player who possessed all the technique, passing ability and talent to be the complete footballer," the statement continued.

"He was the heart-beat of our 1961 'Double' side, was then a key member of the team that retained the FA Cup the following season and, although injury kept him out of our 1963 European Cup Winners' Cup final triumph, he had played a vital role in getting us there.

"He formed a marvellous midfield combination with Danny Blanchflower and, when the Northern Ireland international left us in 1964, Mackay took over as Spurs captain and led us to another FA Cup triumph in 1967. He twice broke the same leg in our cause but, each time, came back stronger than ever."

Scottish club, Hearts where he played and won four titles before moving to England wrote on its website: "Heart of Midlothian FC was deeply saddened to learn of the death of legend Dave Mackay earlier this evening.

"Dave lost his long battle with illness at the age of 80 with his family at his bedside in Nottingham.

"A fearless defender regarded as the club's greatest-ever player, Dave won the league title, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup (twice) with Hearts before going on to star for Tottenham Hotspur and Derby County.

"Our sincerest condolences go to his family at this extremely sad time."

Gary Lineker who played for Tottenham shares his message of condolence on twitter:

"Sorry to hear that Dave Mackay has passed away. He was a wonderful footballer, and a winner, both North and South of the border,"

Dave Mackay was a former Tottenham player who helped the club to the 1961 titles double, winning the league as at then and the FA Cup; becoming the first and only Spurs side to do so.

36 year-old Chelsea and ex-international player of the Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire, Didier Drogba revealed in an interview that his son, Isaac who is 16 may not play for his fatherland or France where the player grew up but the Three Lions of England.

Isaac was born in Paris, France in 1999 but the family moved to England when Drogba joined Chelsea in 2004.

Drogba who came in for Diego Costa towards the last two minutes of Sunday’s Capital One Cup 2-0 final win over Everton said in an interview with Sports Illustrated that he will not convince the boy, who is currently a youth player at Chelsea which country to play for.

‘When I asked him (Isaac) which country he would like to play for as an international, he told me neither Ivory Coast nor France but England.‘I cannot tell why he doesn't want to play for my country Ivory Coast if he had to choose a national team someday. That would be his choice.’

Drogba is Ivory Coast's leading goal scorer with 65 goals in 104 appearances.

Drogba's son, Isaac was born in Paris, France in 1999 but moved with the famil to England when Drogba joined Chelsea from Marseille in 2004.

Zarko Udovicic, a former under-21 player for was threatened with a gun by fans of his own club, Novi Pazar, following an 85 minute penalty miss in a Serbian top-flight against Rad last week.

The Filipino expects Mayweather to take to his heels when the two fight, with Pacquaio inflicting pains on him.

‘If I hurt him [Mayweather]. I expect him to run. Otherwise he might fight me toe-to-toe,’ Pacquaio said.

Pacquaio's personal adviser, Michael Koncz believes that the Filipino can beat Mayweather either by knock out or points.

According to Koncz, Pacquaio has enough skills to win at least seven of the twelve rounds.

'Manny [Pacquiao] doesn’t need to force himself to knockout Floyd and I truly believe that we can win also by decision. It [knockout win] is not necessarily needed.

'We have a very good strategy as we prepare for the fight, but of course I cannot reveal it to anybody,' Koncz said.

The Russian Athletics Federation announced on Wednesday, February 25 the suspension of an 18 year-old race walker who tested positive to a banned substance last year October.

Evgeny Pantyushin tested positive to the banned steroid prednisolone; the ban was backdated to October 1st when the drug was found in his system.
