The stock on board the truck is worth US$455,000 and was either burned in the fire or stolen, the Modern Express estimated.

The driver of the truck, in an attempt to save the 10,000 shoes amidst fears of an explosion, suffered some burns from the initial fire on his hand and face. He has been treated and discharged.

Police in the region has however condemned the looters in a report stating that “What you have taken might be worth half the driver’s lifetime savings.”
