Ibrahim Boubacar Keita re-elected Mali president in a landslide victory

Keita beat opposition candidate, Soumaila Cisse, in the country's repeat poll with 67% of ballots cast.

The 73-year-old leader beat opposition candidate, Soumaila Cisse, in the country's repeat poll held on Sunday, August 12, 2018, with 67% of ballots cast.

The Ministry of Territorial Administration declared Keita winner on Thursday.

Cisse, a former finance minister, who also ran against Keita in 2013, secured 32% of the votes.

Cisse had vowed to reject the results of the election and called on his supporters to "rise up.”

He accused the government of stuffing ballot boxes in both the initial vote on July 29, 2018, and the Sunday runoff, allegations which Keita denies.

Keita will serve his second five-year term as Malian leader.
