Malawi gets 16 EAPD scholarships from Egypt’s El-Adawy
Egypt's Ambassador to Malawi, Maher El-Adawy, has presented 16 Capacity Building Scholarships financed by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) to scholars from the southeastern African nation.
The Egyptian Ambassador to the country, Maher El-Adawy, presented the EAPD scholarships at a handover ceremony in Lilongwe.
"The aim of the scholarships is to help both our countries develop technologically, network and exposure," the Ambassador said.
"This technical know-how will help our countries move with technology as the world continues to grow."
El-Adawy said his office will continue to work with the country and give Malawians opportunities to study in Egypt.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Malawian Principal Secretary for Human Resources, Blessings Chilabade, said the scholarships mean a lot to his country.
"These scholarships mean so much to the Malawi nation because we will have expertise in the areas where we have skills shortage," he said.
"It is better to teach someone how to fish instead of actually handing them the fish itself."
Student Pulse gathered that Egypt has so far awarded 114 scholarships to scholars from the southeastern African nation.
