Michael Okon, a 50-year-old man who was nabbed for allegedly raping a two-year-old girl, has blamed the devil for his actions, claiming that he was under the influence of an evil spirit when he carried out the disgraceful act.

As reported in the Vanguard, Okon, and indigene of Mbak Ekpe in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, was paraded at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, for allegedly luring the toddler into his room and defiling her before he was caught in the act.
The suspect confessed to committing the crime but said he did not know what pushed him into it.
“Even as I am standing before you, I do not know what came over me and what had really happened. Someone came to my house and told me something serious was going to happen to me but I did not take it seriously.

It was the evil spirit that influenced me and pushed me into raping the girl who is like my granddaughter.”
