NPA Allegedly Budgets To Spend Over GH¢360,000 On End-Of-Year Party?

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) is to spend over GH360, 000 of the Ghanaian tax payers’ money on an end of year party for its staff.

The event, according to sources will be held at the newly opened plush African Sun Hotel, Airport City located close to the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on December 19, 2014.

The NPA, the source told SpyGhana.com has already sent invitation letters to the over hundred staff, who in turn are to attend the ceremony with their spouses and two children.

Deep throat sources observed the country’s NPA would spend an amount of GH¢3600 on each family that will be attending the party.

This comes at a time when the world prices of crude oil has fallen to an all-time low yet a gallon of petrol is sold here at GH¢15, a development many have described as unfair.

Some taxi drivers in the national capital recently demonstrated to ask government and the NPA to comply with their own petroleum adjustment formula, a call which has fallen on deaf ears.

Several attempts undertaken by Spyghana to get the NPA for their side of the story were unsuccessful.

Established under the NPA Act 2005, Act 691, the NPA is a statutory agency regulating, overseeing and monitoring the petroleum downstream industry in Ghana to ensure efficiency, growth and stakeholder satisfaction.

Among its functions include monitoring and regulating petroleum price in accordance with the prescribed pricing formula; the automatic adjustment formula.

It also grant licenses to service providers and marketing companies as well as protecting consumers’ interests and maintain the highest standards of petroleum products offered to them.
