Police Chief Inspector Daniel Gbedzinu narrated to the court that, the convict was employed by NEDCo about two years ago, to help in meter reading in the Ejura Municipality for calculation of monthly bills.

Inspector Gbedzinu said between the time of his employment and his arrest, he had been able to dupe property owners up to the tune of GHȼ4,165.84.

The convict, according to the prosecution, had been taking monies from the property owners totaling the said amount, with the promise to help supply power to their properties.

The victims later lodged complaints with NEDCo after he failed to fulfil his promise. When questioned, Ibrahim Alhassan Gawsu admitted to the offence and was handed over to the police. Ibrahim was charged with defrauding by false pretense to which he pleaded guilty and was sentenced on his own plea.
