28-yr-old guard in trouble for raping, impregnating 16-yr-old girl
A security guard has been docked for raping and impregnating a minor.
Abu who resides at No. 38, Adebola Street, Anifowoshe area in Ikeja, was said to have abducted the girl on her way back from school on the pretext of asking for directions, and took her to his home where he raped her.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Rachael Williams, told the court that the accused was charged for defilement.
"The victim, a 16-year-old girl, was returning from school when the accused called her under the pretext of asking her for a direction.
Before she knew what was happening, he had raped her and told her not to tell anyone. It was a month after the incident that she discovered that she had missed her period.”
Williams added that the offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, which prescribes life imprisonment for the offence.
Abu however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and Chief Magistrate Tajudeen Elias, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000, while adjourning the case to September 2, for hearing.
