Three secondary school students have drowned in a well. One of the boys first fell into the well while the other two met the same fate while attempting to rescue their friend.
gathered that the boys, all aged between 14 and 15, had gone to the well to fetch water when the tragedy occurred.
A member of the community told Daily Trust that one of the boys first fell into the well while the other two met the same fate while attempting to rescue their friend.
“Instead of alerting adults around to rescue their drowning friend, one of them tried to climb down the well to rescue the guy but also fell inside and likewise the third boy," the source said.
"The development has thrown the community into mourning."
All three were students of nearby Ayaki Secondary school.
It was also reported that members of the community performed rituals around the well after their bodies were fished out.
This is the second tragedy of the kind.
In April, a student, Akojede Sodeeq, and a man who tried to rescue him both died inside a well at Igbawere village, Offa LGA of Kwara state.
