Two weeks after wedding, Mallam discovers his wife who claims to be in her menstrual period is a man

A Ugandan man who failed to do sufficient due diligence before marrying his lover has found out the hard way that his newly wedded wife is a man and not a woman as he had thought.

A report by Daily Monitor has it that Sheikh Mohammed Mutumba, the Imam of Kyampisi Masjid Noor mosque in Kayunga District, was suspended to pave way for investigations into the matter.

Regional Kadhi Sheikh Abdul Noor Kakande is reported as saying that the move to suspend the 27-year-old Mallam is to preserve the integrity of the religion.

Sheikh Mohammed Mutumba reportedly exchanged vows with his ‘wife’ Ms Swabullah Nabukeera about two weeks ago, after meeting at the Kyampisi mosque.

Interestingly, the couple has since not gotten intimate because the supposed wife claimed to be in her menstrual period.

While Mutumba was waiting for the period to be over for him to touch his ‘wife’, huis neighbour strangely accused her of jumping over a wall separating their houses and stealing clothes and a television set.

The alleged theft case was reported to the police and during investigations, police found out that Mrs Mutumba is a man.

Kayunga District criminal investigations officer, Isaac Mugera, Nabukeera is reported as saying that the suspect was wearing a hijab and sandals when apprehended.

“It was when he was been searched by a female officer that the suspect had stacked clothes in the bra to hoodwink that they were breasts. On further search, we discovered that the suspect had male genitals,” the police boss disclosed.

During interrogations, Nabukeera revealed his real name as Richard Tumushabe and that the marriage was a ploy to just dupe Mutumba of his money.

The bride-turned man has been reportedly charged with impersonation, theft and obtaining goods by false pretence.

His alleged aunt who took the dowry was also arrested, and she admitted that Mutumba had paid dowry including two goats, two bags of sugar, a carton of salt and a Koran.

She told police that she could not have known that her ‘niece’-turned nephew was a male, claiming she got to know him when he was already an adult.
