Sacked President of the Korle Bu Senior Staff Association, Charles Offei Palm has sued the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of the hospital for contempt.

According to him, his interdiction breached the disciplinary procedures and policies of Korle Bu and the Ghana Health Service.

Offei-Palm dismissal letter was circulated just two weeks after he was interdicted for flouting the hospital’s regulations.

A letter signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr Gilbert Buckle read: "following your interdiction and non-appearance for disciplinary hearing, the Disciplinary Committee has proceeded in your absence and found you guilty of the offences leveled against you as per your interdiction letter. Upon the recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee, your appointment with the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital is terminated with effect from 6th April, 2016.”

His interdiction follows a media interview he granted in which he allegedly accused the management and board of running down the facility.

Offei-Palm has already filed a suit challenging his interdiction, questioning the justification of the dismissal letter because of the pending court suit over his interdiction.

In a contempt suit filed at the Human Rights Court on Tuesday, Offei Palm argued that the hospital erred in law by first interdicting him and subsequently dismissing him.

Offei Palm said the conduct by the hospital amounts to interference in the administration of justice.
