Volta Region: Police intercepts GH¢300K worth of ‘wee’

The SWAT police personnel were able to intercept about 50 sacks of dry leaves believed to be Indian hemp, five barrels of the herbs and four locally manufactured guns.

A team of officers from the SWAT division, led by ASP Banini, undertook the operation on Saturday, December 8, 2018.

The Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP F.E. Doku, said they acted after picking up intelligence that the suspects were hiding Indian hemp and other weapons.

He explained that the SWAT police personnel were able to intercept about 50 sacks of dry leaves believed to be Indian hemp, five barrels of the herbs and four locally manufactured guns.

Also, two unregistered jungle motorbikes used by the suspects before they fled into the bush were also retrieved by the Police, he said.

Meanwhile, four of the suspects were arrested and are currently being investigated.

The four are Prosper Donkor, 27; Adomla Torvor, 70; Gati Samuel, 38; and Dotse Noah, 25.

Addressing the media, DCOP F.E. Doku confirmed the arrests, adding that all four men will be arraigned before court on Tuesday, 11 December 2018.
