The New Patriotic Party has announced it would attend the Electoral Commission’s (EC) public forum on the voters register.

The party had early on given indications that it would not attend the two-day forum to be chaired by a former Chief Justice and Co-Chair of the Coalition for Domestic Election Observers, (CODEO), Professor V.C.R.A.C. Crabbe.
According to the party, the recommendations by the panel would be biased since its Chair,Prof. V.C.R.A.C Crabbe has publicly stated that there is no need for a new register.
Martin Adjei Korsah, Director of Elections of the NPP in an interview on Starr FM said the party would make a representation at the forum to make a case for a new voters' register.

"We had never decided that we were not going to go even though we raised concerns but it was never to suggest that we were not going to the platform. We are going to be fully represented," he added.
The Electoral Commission of Ghana has named a five-member panel to hold a two-day public hearing on the compilation of the Voters’ Register.

According to the Electoral Commission, the setting up of the panel follows petitions and calls from some political parties, civil society groups and a number of Ghanaians for a new voters’ register.
