Kylie Jenner reveals the heartbreaking reason why she wanted lip injections

Kylie’s not the only one who has decided to opt for lip augmentation lately.

Now, Kylie is sharing why she decided to get them in the first place, and the reason is so sad. On Sunday night’s episode of Life of Kylie, the 20-year-old revealed that she decided to get her lips plumped after a boy she liked as a teenager assumed she’d be a bad kisser because she has naturally thin lips.

“I was 15 and I was insecure about my lips. I have really small lips,” she said on the show. “And it was like one of my first kisses and a guy was like, ‘I didn’t think you would be a good kisser because you have such small lips.’” (Seriously, dude?)

Kylie says she “took that really hard.” “Just when a guy you like says that, I don’t know, it just really affected me,” she continued. “I just didn’t feel desirable or pretty.” The reality star says she really wanted bigger lips, so she would over-line her lips with lip liner to create the illusion of bigger lips. “And then finally I was like this lip liner isn’t doing it,” she said. “[I] ended up getting my lips done.”

Kylie’s not the only one who has decided to opt for lip augmentation lately. According to data released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons more than 27,000 lip procedures took place in the U.S. last year, which is a new record. Lip implants are also up 43 percent in women since 2000.

Kylie initially chalked up her plumper lips to really good lip liner before finallyopening up about her injections on KUWTK. The reality star told Complex magazine in 2016 that she initially felt weird about admitting to lip injections because she was still 16 when she first had them done. “I didn’t want to be a bad influence. I didn’t want people to think you had to get your lips done to feel good about yourself,” she said, adding, “I wish I had just been honest and upfront.”

Clearly, there’s no shame in having plastic surgery and if it makes you feel good about yourself, that’s great. But if you decide to do it, just do it for you—not someone else.
