One-village, One-Dam to start after rainy season

The Vice President has announced that the One-village, One-Dam has been hindered by the rainy season and would commence immediately when it ends

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana has promised the inhanitants of the Northern region that the 'One-village, one-dam’ initiative would begin at after this year’s rainy season.

Speaking to the muslim community, Dr. Bawumia pleaded with the people to exercise patience as it would be unwise to commence the building of dams in the rainy season. The Vice President had visited the Central Mosque in Bolgatanga to break his fast together with other Muslims when made this announcement.

The Vice-President had undertaken a similar exercise with Muslim faithfuls  last year during his campaign tour as the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and asked for their prayers and support to win the elections. "We have won the elections through your prayer and support and it is appropriate that I come back to thank you and also to ask for your prayer in the governance of the country because the task before us is Herculean and we have promised to achieve a lot for this country," he said. The Vice-President said the government had budgeted GH¢219 million for the Zongo Development Fund assuring them that the president’s promises would all be implemented.

He stated that a law would be passed within the year to ensure that the fund received its yearly budgetary allocation without any delay.

Dr. Bawumia said he was very hopeful of the development and employment prospects of the policies of the government.

Students who previously could not continue their education due lack of funds would also have the opportunity to realize their full potential this September with the commencement of the Free SHS program.
