The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West Constituency, Ursula Owusu Ekufful has condemned colleague MP, Kennedy Agyapong for saying his sex-for-job claims against the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission was a joke.

The MP had recently on a campaign platform accused EC Chair, Charlotte Osei of trading her body for her position.

However, speaking Tuesday on Adom FM, the Assin Central Legislator explained that the ‘noise’ made about his comment was unnecessary as he was only joking.

“I said a lot of things on that day, even this one, I was joking, I immediately took my seat after making those comments…yes, I was joking…,” he said.

He also said calls for him to apologise are baseless.

But in a response, Ursula Owusu Ekufful said attempts by the Assin Central MP to trivialise what she calls serious allegations against the EC Chair is unfortunate.

She believes comments from men like Mr. Agyapong whom she described as “…some misguided idiots” should be condemned.

“...It doesn’t matter who says that. I don’t care who says that. So long as those offensive words come out of anybody’s mouth, we all ought to condemn it and not say that we will justify it, we will whitewash...and we will pray that it just goes away...because it is our friend who is saying that,” she told Accra-based Starr FM.

Ursula Owusu Ekufful added that “he, Kennedy is a product of this sick society which condones that kind of offensive behaviour against women.”
