We didn’t see election 2016 defeat coming – Kofi Adams

President Akufo-Addo garnered 5, 716, 609 votes, representing 53.84 percent to snatch the presidency from former president John Mahama who secured 4,713,277 votes, representing 44.40 percent.

Kofi Adams, the National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress has revealed that his party didn’t expect to lose the December 2016 election.

Speaking on StarrFM on Tuesday June 20, 2017, Mr. Adams mentioned the defeat was never expected.

“No. no. We thought that we have done so well. We thought that the campaign went very well. We thought that we have reached out to many persons. As a government, the government was on course and very truthful to the people,” he said.

Meanwhile, the 13-member committee report captures a series of diagnosis from members of the NDC nationwide on why it lost the 2016 polls.

According to the chairman of the13- member committee, Prof Botchwey, he said that the 455-page document contains details of what led to the defeat of the NDC.

The committee’s responsibility was to among other things make recommendations for the restructuring and reorganisation of the party to position it for the next general election in 2020.

However, the report recommended that the party puts together a group of credible and eminent members of our party to undertake a peace building and healing of the country.

The party is expected to meet today [Tuesday June 20, 2017] to deliberate on the modalities that will guide the implementation of the committee’s recommendations.
