Kwesi Nyantakyi appointed President of World Cup Committee by CAF

The President of the Ghana Football Association has been handed the role of CAF World Cup Commitee President

The 1st vice President of the Confederation of African Football Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi who doubles as the FA boss in Ghana is to preside over a committee to aid the participation of African teams in the 2018 Russia World Cup.

Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi will serve in this committee alongside Zambian Football legend and CAF Exco member Kalusha Bwalya with the football federation presidents of all the 5 teams that made it to Russia 2018.

Amaju Pinnick (Nigerian FA President), Hany Abo Rida (Egypt FA President), Fouzi Lakjaa (Morocco FA President), Augustin Senghor (Senegal FA President) and Wadii Jari (Tunisia FA President) are the other members that are to serve in the committee.

The committee will hold the 1st meeting on the back of the FIFA World Cup draw to be held next month

Nyantakyi’s appointment comes shortly after GFA spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie Daara and Ghana Black Stars legend Anthony Baffoe receiving appointments as well.

Ibrahim Sannie Daara is a member of the CAF Media Experts Panel whereas Anthony Baffoe is the CAF Deputy General Secretary responsible for football and development.

8 Ghanaians including Mr Nyantakyi now serve CAF in various capacities with a larger part of the part of the appointments coming after the GFA boss assumed the role of CAF 1st Vice President.
