Nzema based side, Karela FC gained promotion to the Ghana Premier League for the 2017/2018 season.
The side did beat King Faisal 4-1 to get into the Ghana Football top flight and stretched a 20 point lead of 2nd placed New Edubiase. This got them to the Ghana Premier League with five games to go.
Pulse Sports caught up with the CEO of the club Lawrence Cudjoe Saforo to discuss how the club is looking forward to the playing in the Ghana Premier League
Mr Cudjoe did first speak on the secret that ensured the club’s qualification.
“It is the motivation from the players, the coach, the technical team and the business we are doing that ensured our qualification," Cudjoe told Pulse.com.gh.
He did go on to state the long and the short term plan of the side
“The club is actually on a 5 year project. In two years we are now in the Ghana Premier League. We are looking forward to acquiring 3 properties for the club. This includes a Stadium, a training pitch and another facility."
He then highlighted the challenges going into financially planning for the club to survive the next season
There is the need for us to budget for the next season in the league. The fact is for now there is no budget because we do not know when the next season is starting.
However we are making arrangements for the next season and trying to estimate cost of some certain expenses we are bound to make.
“We are also planning to get people for the league centers where we will playing the games”
“That also cost and we will have to look into that.”
With two games to go it would having been easier to state a precise budgetary allocation into the coming season.
Due to the instability of the Ghana Premier League calendar various will definitely have problems getting sponsors and clubs to actually plan their finances for an upcoming season.
It is common knowledge an official budget should always work in a specific time frame.
