MotoGP championship leader Marc Marquez does not expect to wrap up his third riders' title at the Japanese Grand Prix next month despite holding a commanding lead.

The Spaniard extended his advantage at the top of the table to 52 points following his victory at the Aragon Grand Prix. Movistar Yamaha's Valentino Rossi is his nearest rival, with Jorge Lorenzo a further 14 points back.

With only four races of the season remaining, Marquez could win the title with a victory in Japan, although he would require Rossi to finish 15th or lower and Lorenzo outside of the top three at an event where the pair hold seven premier-class wins between them.

And the Repsol Honda rider expects the battle will go on for a few more races before he can celebrate.

"In Japan I will not win the championship," he is quoted as saying by Autosport. "I would like to because it's Honda's home circuit, but I don't think so.

"We must wait, we need to be patient. We cannot make any mistakes.

"It's not important where, it's important to win. We must keep the same mentality.

"We know that Japan will be one circuit where maybe we are struggling more, but we will arrive on other tracks that will be better for us."
