In an Instagram post, Van Vicker put up a photo of his wife holding a placard which reads “Free SHS is here.”
He said he has high expectations and was hopeful the programme will succeed.

The NPP during the 2016 campaign promised to roll out the free SHS programme to reduce the financial burden on parents and also ensure every child who passes the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) goes to a secondary school.

At the launch of the programme on Tuesday (September 12, 2017), President Akufo-Addo said free means the government will finance expenses such as tuition, accommodation, feeding among others.
He said even though the government anticipates some challenges in the near future the Free SHS programme will succeed.
