The Corporate Affairs Director of Groupe Ndoum, Richmond Keelson, has clarified that Saturdayâs fire outbreak at the Coconut Groove Regency Hotel in Accra did not affect the hotel, its restaurant, guest rooms and conference facilities.
âWhen alarm, was raised, everyone ran to safety and an urgent call was made to the Ghana Fire Service to come and help put out the fire,â the statement said.

âTwo fire tenders came soon followed by three more. It has become apparent after about an hour and a half, that the Fire Service personnel have not been able to contain the fire at the studio. Now the fire has spread to other offices on the same block as the ATV studio. The ATV studio and four commercial offices of Groupe Nduom are on the same block, âaccording to the statement.
The statement further stressed that âIt is important to note that the Regency Hotel and its restaurant, guest rooms and conference facilities are intact and were not touched by the fire.â
The Coconut Groove Regency Hotel is owned by the Flag bearer of the Progressive Peopleâs Party and Businessman Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom and family. The 3-star hotel was established 23 years ago and has several branches in Elmina and Obuasi.
According to an eyewitness report, the fire has also affected offices of the Immigration service which is close to the hotel at Ridge avenue.
