Nana Addo marks Adams Mahama's anniversary

Nana Addo in a press statement said former Upper East Regional Chairman was convinced that the "NPP will capture power in 2016 in order to improve the lives of the people of Ghana."

Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo Addo, has marked the 1st anniversary of Adams Mahamas death with a call on the party to "avenge" his death by returning the country through the death of progress and prosperity.

"It is up to us to make sure that Adams did not die in vain," he charged NPP members.

According to him: "The way in which we will not let his death be in vain is to rededicate ourselves to the struggle ahead, that is the struggle to redeem our country and return her to the path of progress and prosperity. When we have done this and put the smiles back on the faces of all the poor and needy people that Adams took care of, only then would we have truly 'avenged' his death."

Nana Addo is currently in the Volta region canvassing for votes and it is unclear whether he will join the family of the late chairman in Bolgatanga to mark the anniversary.

Suspects in the late chairman's death are on trial and an attempt by the family of Mahama to have the trial judge removed for bias was rejected by the Chief Justice.

But Nana addo appealed to the family members of the deceased to allow the courts to deal with the matter as one Gregory Afoko faces trial over the case.

"On this day, and on behalf of the entire membership of the NPP, we pledge to continue to work to keep the Adams’ flame alight. To his widow, children, and family, we pray for Allah’s continued strength for them<" he added.

Mahama died on May 20 following an acid attack on him.
