Newly appointed governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Abdul Issahaku is set to deliver his first monetary policy address on Monday, May 16.
Dr. Abdul Issahaku was appointed in April after former governor Dr. Henry Kofi Wampah resigned five months clear of the end of his tenure.
It is believed that Dr. Issahaku, who before his appointment as governor of the Bank of Ghana was the second deputy governor of the central bank, was appointed for his potential to manoeuvre the country’s dealings with the IMF.
Banking experts say they expect the current governor to maintain the policy rate at 26% for the third month.
