Man exhumes dead body over GHC20 debt

The deceased Kwame Korankye Nkansah was buried at the Old Tafo cemetery. Atta claimed he facilitated the burial as a pallbearer, but was never paid for his services.

Residents of Akyem Old Tafo in the Eastern Region are living in a state shock after a young man in his mid-twenties exhumed a dead body from the grave.

The man Atta who is referred to as Abodam ripped the casket apart because the family of the deceased failed to pay GHC20 as the cost of his services after the burial.

His plan was to force the family pay him by exhuming the corpse.

However, he was not lucky. The youth of the area saw him digging out the corpse and subjected him to severe beatings.

The youth did not buy into Abodam’s reason for exhuming the body. They argued that he had been contracted by some money ritualists to bring a human part for some rituals and said same to the police.

He has since been handed over to the police for further investigations.

Meanwhile, the bereaved family when reached denied having any ties with the suspect indicating he never played any role in the funeral and is not known to the family.

According to them, it is untrue the owe him and challenged him to mention the one who contracted him as a pallbearer during the burial service.
