Ghanaian defender Abdul Baba Rahman will have Guus Hiddink as new boss at Chelsea after Jose Mourinho was sacked on Thursday.
The English Premier League outfit has been poor this season and lie at a lowly 16th position on the log, just a single point above the relegation zone.
Guus Hiddink has been apparently spotted at the Heathrow airport in London as the former Chelsea boss is close to taking over as interim boss till the end of the season.
"Chelsea football club can confirm Guus Hiddink has been appointed first-team manager until the end of the season," read a statement on the club's official website.
"The owner and the board welcome back a coach with a wealth of top-level experience and success, including his previous spell with the club in 2009 when we lifted the FA Cup. Mr [Roman] Abramovich and the board believe that Guus has what it takes to get the best out of our talented squad."
Meanwhile, Hiddink told the Chelsea website: "I am excited to return to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world but is not where it should be at the moment. However, I am sure we can all turn this season around. "I am looking forward to working with the players and staff at this great club and especially renewing my wonderful relationship with the Chelsea fans."
Guus Hiddink during his first time at Chelsea had a win percentage of 84.6.
Former Chelsea player Didier Drogba will also be asked by owner Roman Abramovic to join the coaching staff as they seek to unravel the mystery about their poor season.
