Nikoloz Basilashvili became the first Georgian to reach an ATP World Tour singles final by beating Dusan Lajovic in the Generali Open, and top seed Feliciano Lopez will face Dustin Brown in the semi-finals of the Swiss Open.

The 123-ranked Basilashvili will make history this weekend after securing a 6-3 6-1 semi-final victory over sixth seed Lajovic in Kitzbuhel on Friday.

Basilashvili won 73 per cent of points on his first serve and was not broken in the match, with four breaks of his own enabling the 24-year-old from Tbilisi to break new ground.

He now faces a showdown with Paolo Lorenzi, who ousted Gerald Melzer 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (15-13) to move just one victory away from a maiden ATP Tour title.

Lopez was made to work for his place in the last four in Gstaad, seeing off young Swede Elias Ymer 6-4 7-6 (7-2).

The Spaniard will take on Brown in the last four as a result of the unseeded German's 6-4 6-4 success over seventh seed Mikhail Youzhny.

Robin Haase and Paul-Henri Mathieu will contest the other semi-final after beating Thiago Monteiro - who beat Gilles Simon earlier in the day - and Albert Ramos-Vinolas respectively.

There were some surprise quarter-final results at the Croatia Open, where Joao Sousa, Jeremy Chardy and Pablo Carreno Busta bit the dust.

Second seed Sousa went down 6-3 4-6 5-2 to Andrej Martin, while Chardy, seeded three, was beaten 6-4 6-2 by Carlos Berlocq.

Carreno Busta lost in straight sets to Gastao Elias, who will take on Fabio Fognini in Umag after the fourth seed came from a set down to see off Damir Dzumhur.
