Cue Card will not race until the Cheltenham Gold Cup, when victory would earn the King George VI Chase winner's owners a £1million bonus.
The nine-year-old gelding only just beat Vautour on the line under Paddy Brennan to land the King George at Kempton at the fourth time of asking on Saturday.
Cue Card had already won the Betfair Chase at Haydock last month and will attempt to pull off a lucrative treble at Cheltenham.
Trainer Colin Tizzard said on Sunday: "He had a hard race. He trotted out fine this morning, but we won't run again [before the Gold Cup],
"He's had three quick-ish races and it's only just over two months [until the Gold Cup], anyway.”
Tizzard added: “When they put the money (£1million) up I thought it was an impossible task, but it's getting closer.
"If we win a King George and a Gold Cup that would be something to live on for the rest of my life, anyway.
"We've all seen Cue Card making all in the Ryanair and bolting up, but this is a completely different horse now."
