British track cyclist Victoria Williamson has undergone surgery after suffering serious injuries in a crash while competing at the Rotterdam Six-Day on Saturday.

The 2013 team sprint World Championship bronze medallist sustained fractures to her pelvis and several vertebrae after colliding with Elis Ligtlee of the Netherlands in a sprint heat.

Williamson is to remain in hospital over the next few days and the 22-year-old faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Great Britain Cycling Team sprint coach Justin Grace said: "Victoria is being very well looked after here in Rotterdam and the well-wishes people have been sending her are very much appreciated.
