Dee Gordon has signed a five-year contract extension with the Miami Marlins.
The All-Star second baseman has put pen to paper on a deal that is believed to be worth $50million, and is said to include a $14m option for a sixth year.
Gordon was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in a seven-player trade in December 2014 and surpassed expectations in his first season in south Florida.
"I'm thrilled to be affirming our long-term commitment to Dee Gordon, not only one of the most dynamic players in baseball, but also an outstanding young man," Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria said in a statement.

The speedy 27-year-old posted a batting average of .333 that earned him the National League batting title and an on-base percentage of .359. He also recorded 58 stolen bases.
