Here’s what you should be paying attention to
Celebrity fitness guru and Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper suffered a devastating heart attack in February that nearly ended his life. Since then, Harper has taken up a Mediterranean diet, and spoken candidly about the brush with death, saying, “I was in full cardiac arrest. My heart stopped. Not to be dramatic, but I was dead. I was on that ground dead."
Last night, while speaking with talk show host Andy Cohen, who has a nightly series on Bravo called Watch What Happens Live, Harper continued to revisit the experience. This time, he revealed some of the warning signs that he ignored in the lead-up to the "widowmaker" incident.
“I fainted one time in the gym,” said Harper. “I started having these dizzy spells. And I just kind of overlooked them and just adapted. Which is the dumbest thing — I kick myself over and over again about it.”
Thankfully, Harper didn't join the 16 percent of men who ignore their heart attack warning signs and die as a result. If you're concerned about your own heart health, here are some warning signs of sudden cardiac arrest that you should pay attention to.
