Project Morpheus is Sony’s attempt at making a Virtual Reality headset and it is better than almost any other VR headsets you’ve heard or used.

TechCrunch’s KyleRussell, recently paid a visit to PlayStation’s R&D senior director, RichardMarks, and gave the new gadget a test run.

Unlike other VR headsets that require a powerful PC or a mobile phone, the Project Morpheus headset uses a Playstation 4 console.

According to Russell’s review, this doesn’t in any way diminish what Sony has achieved with the headset, noting that the one thing that could affect how people receive it is if it is given poor content when it finally launches next year.

A clever feature which Sony has incorporated in the headset is sound positioning, a situation wear sounds made in the Virtual reality world are moved around in your headset to make the experience as realistic a possible.

In the demo Russell tested, there are no cross-hairs to shoot from - you actually have to aim down the gun like in a real life situation.

With more than 20 million PS4s already sitting in living rooms worldwide, Sony has a larger addressable audience than its competitors. It has definitely nailed the software and hardware experience with the Morpheus and it has cut a lot of the frustrations involved with headsets that are currently on the market.
