WHO declares Liberia free of disease for 2nd time

The new declaration was made on Thursday, September 3, 2015, 42 days after the last confirmed case passed the second negative test.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Liberia Ebola free for the second time this year.

“WHO declares Liberia free of Ebola virus transmission in the human population,” the UN health agency said in a statement.
Liberia had earlier been declared free of Ebola in May but the disease made a comeback six weeks later.
