Harlequins' record points-scorer Nick Evans has signed a new contract with the Premiership club.

The former New Zealand fly-half joined the London outfit from the Blues seven years ago and has been a big hit at the Twickenham Stoop.

Evans passed Quins president Bob Hillier's 37-year record points tally for the club in 2013 and has gone on to take his total to an incredible 2,024 in 181 games.

The 35-year-old, who is the leading overseas points-scorer of all time in the Premiership, has been rewarded with another deal to remain with Quins.

He said: "Harlequins has been the biggest part of my professional career and I am so proud to have been given the opportunity to continue at this great club.

"The potential that this group of players has is incredibly exciting and I'm looking forward to being able to help the squad unlock its potential and reach our domestic and European goals once again."

Quins director of rugby Conor O'Shea believes age is no barrier for Evans, who kicked the winning touchline conversion in the 2011 European Challenge Cup final and also scored 20 points in the 2012 Premiership final victory over Leicester Tigers.

"Nick is the consummate professional and his competitiveness still burns more than it ever has." O'Shea said.

"He is a massive influence on the group; a great role model for players both young and old and I have no doubt he will deliver for this club when it counts for a few more years yet.

"He has become a true legend in the history of Harlequins and I am sure everyone involved in the club will be delighted by the news."
