<h2>The Academy Awards on Thursday, February 8, 2024, announced Achievement in Casting as a new category that will take effect in the 98th edition in 2026.</h2>

<p>The Achievement in Casting Oscar will be the newest category added to the awards since the introduction of Best Animated Feature Film in 2001. The Casting Directors Branch of the Academy was created in July 2013 and currently includes nearly 160 members.</p>

<p>The CEO and Academy president, <strong>Janet Yang</strong> in a <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.etonline.com/oscars-announce-new-category-for-2026-awards-219524#:~:text=The%20Achievement%20in%20Casting%20Oscar,Feature%20Film%20award%20in%202001.">Press release</a> shared that the inclusion came as a means to acknowledge that vital part of filmmaking. She stated that&nbsp;<em>"Casting directors play an essential role in filmmaking, and as the Academy evolves, we are proud to add casting to the disciplines that we recognize and celebrate."</em></p>

<p>The rules for eligibility and voting for the new category will be announced in April 2025. The future announcements will also reveal whether or not the Nigerian film industry will be included in the new category.</p>

<p>In the meantime, Nigerian-British photographer,&nbsp;<strong>Misan Harriman</strong>'s short film,&nbsp;<strong><em>The After</em></strong>, starring&nbsp;<strong>David Oyelowo</strong>&nbsp;has been nominated in the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/movies/misan-harrimans-the-after-with-david-oyelowo-nominated-for-2024-oscars/7q67fse">Best Live-Action Short Film category at the 2024 Academy Awards</a>.</p>

<p>The short film, which is currently streaming on Netflix, competes with&nbsp;<em>Invincible</em>&nbsp;(<strong>Vincent René-Lortie&nbsp;</strong>and<strong>&nbsp;Samuel Caron</strong>),&nbsp;<em>Knight of Fortune&nbsp;</em>(<strong>Lasse Lyskjær Noer&nbsp;</strong>and<strong>&nbsp;Christian Norlyk</strong>),&nbsp;<em>Red, White and Blue</em>&nbsp;(<strong>Nazrin Choudhury&nbsp;</strong>and&nbsp;<strong>Sara McFarlane</strong>),&nbsp;<em>The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar</em>&nbsp;(<strong>Wes Anderson&nbsp;</strong>and<strong>&nbsp;Steven Rales)</strong>&nbsp;for the award.</p>

<h2>Big Brother has called Seyi to order as regards his derogatory statement about women on Big Brother Naija All Stars.</h2>

<p>During a diary session on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, Big Brother pointed Seyi's attention to <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/movies/seyi-lands-in-trouble-over-misogynist-statement-on-bbnaija-all-stars/qte4r72">misogynistic statements</a> he made in a trending video. In the video, Seyi makes known his intention to teach his male children to run train on people's daughters, while conversing with <strong>Whitemoney </strong>and <strong>Soma</strong>, on<em> </em><a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/movies/new-housemate-lucy-requests-voluntary-exit-from-bbnaija-all-stars/zff9n8s"><em>BBNaija All Stars</em></a>.</p>

<p>But Seyi didn't seem to remember the conversation claiming to have been drunk during the incident. He broke down in tears after Big Brother reprimanded him on the <em>All Stars </em>show.</p>

<p>He also expressed his fear towards the outcome after the show, adding that he is aware of his dark state and shouldn't have made such a statement knowing that he has a beautiful wife at home. Big Brother was kind enough to advise him to give an apology to the ladies in the<em> All Stars </em>house.</p>

<p>Seyi obliged Big Brother's advice as he called for a house meeting with the <em>BBNaija All Stars</em> housemates and rendered an apology to the female housemates. But some weren't having it as they were unaware of the exact statements he had made and wanted to know. <strong>Cee-C</strong> let him know that the ladies weren't under any duress to forgive him, even after the apology.</p>

<p>This apology on Seyi's part comes after <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/movies/seyis-management-addresses-hate-trend-on-bbnaija-all-stars/y6ykkbw">his management</a> had tried to quell the backlash he was getting from the incident. Celebrities and ex-housemates who had once publicly supported him, shunned his statement and began to disassociate from him.</p>

<p>Only time will tell if Seyi's sober state and apology are sufficient to save him from a <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/movies/kiddwaya-gets-evicted-from-big-brother-naija-all-stars/0wpc1cf">Sunday eviction</a> from the <em>BBNaija All Stars </em>house.</p>

<h2>The GenZ baddies butt heads late in the night on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, after their Guinness fashion show task.</h2>

<p>The altercation between <strong>Angel</strong> and <strong>Ilebaye</strong> happened to be a result of a brewing argument that happened during the day.</p>

<p>According to <strong>Kiddwaya</strong> in a conversation with <strong>Tolanibaj</strong> in the <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/movies/kiddwaya-emerges-head-of-house-of-bbnaija-all-star/lcm9b11">Head of House</a> lounge, early in the day Angel and Ilebaye had locked heads over Angel's demand for Ilebaye to join them in a task preparation. Meanwhile, Ilebaye was eating and insisted she wouldn't come. But Angel took it bad and hurled some insults at her leaving off some sort of steam/beef between them.</p>

<p>Angel and Ilebaye got into an argument in the locker room, which quickly escalated with both girls almost getting physical.</p>

<p>Angel narrates the cause of the situation to Mercy, who had dragged her out during the fight. According to her, she asked Ilebaye to remove her leg as she was peeling her body paint over her open box of clothes. She said, <em>"She was peeling her body paint over my box, my open box, my clothes and she is telling me I should close my box."</em></p>

<p>Ilebaye on the other hand felt Angel purposely came at her in a conversation with Doyin in the locker room. <em>" I have been seeing the signs even when we were dancing upstairs, she was just looking at me with bad eyes for no reason. I didn't do her anything I gave her the space, you nah want me to remove my leg,"</em> she stated.</p>

<p>But things don't stop there for Angel, who returned to the locker room to pack her things, insisting that she was done and wanted to request a voluntary exit. Mercy, <strong>Uriel</strong> and <strong>Venita</strong> prevented her from packing and leaving the house, constantly reminding her of what the price was and the fact that the issue shouldn't be why she leaves the house voluntarily.</p>

<p>The guys on the other hand in a conversation between<strong> Pere</strong>, <strong>Adekunle </strong>and <strong>Ike</strong>, expressed their opinion of <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/movies/3-housemates-are-saved-from-this-weeks-eviction-on-bbnaija-all-stars/lspxgv7">housemates</a> separating fights, according to them housemates should stop separating as that would quell or completely escalate the fight.</p>

<h2>It's the opening night of Big Brother Naija 'All Stars' season eight.</h2>

<p>Returning as an all-star edition, the new season features <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/movies/big-brother-naija-meet-the-all-star-housemates-of-season-8/dr3e0ls">20 housemates</a> from previous seasons, here are the highlights of the night:</p>

<h3><strong>Ebuka's exciting diary room session with Biggie</strong></h3>

<p>The show seemed to have begun the same way it ended in the previous season with the host, <strong>Ebuka</strong> in the diary room with Big Brother.</p>

<h3><strong>Great musical performances</strong></h3>

<p><strong>Kcee </strong>kicked off the show with a great performance while <strong>Wande Coal </strong>ended the night on a high note, delivering his latest hits.</p>

<h3><strong>Kiddwaya offers Ceec ₦120 million</strong></h3>

<p>In just a few minutes of being in the house after his entry as the second housemate of the <em>All-Stars</em> season, <strong>Kiddwaya</strong> propositioned <strong>Ceec</strong> with a mouth-opening deal.</p>

<p>He offered to give her ₦120 million (which is <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/movies/3-exciting-things-to-look-out-for-in-bbnaija-season-8/chc2yxj">the prize money</a>) if she leaves the show immediately. Cee-c was quick to laugh it off, saying she doesn't trust men.</p>

<p>The opening night witnessed two groundbreaking hugs that got the audience surprised based on previous misunderstandings between such parties. Cee-c and <strong>Alex </strong>hugged at the arrival of latter into the house.</p>

<p>This came as a shock because of the uncordial relationship between the two during their stay at the <em>Big Brother Naija</em><strong><em> Double Wahala</em></strong>, as this is said to be the first public hug between the two in five years.</p>

<h3><strong>Flashy and eye-catching outfits</strong></h3>

<p>The opening night definitely delivered a lot of eye-catching outfits that got us talking. As usual, Ebuka delivered, kicking things off with a beautiful pink suit which is perfect for the <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/movies/oppenheimer-barbie-orisa-in-nigerian-cinemas/r3b4qfg">ongoing Barbie trend. </a></p>

<p>For his second look of the night, he pulled off an all-purple traditional outfit made from aso-oke.</p>

<p>Winner of <em>Big Brother Naija</em> <strong><em>Pepper Dem</em></strong> Season Four, <strong>Mercy Eke, </strong>also stole the show with a dramatic outfit which people online have described as an elaborate carnival outfit.</p>

<p>Whitemoney held it down for the men, making his entrance in an all-white look fit for royalty.</p>
