Bashiru Hayford bemoans missed chances

The head coach of Ashgold expected his outfit to score more than a goal in their 1-0 win over Bejaia

Coach Bashiru Hayford, although is confident his side would over Bejaia in the two leg tie, he has much regrets over the opportunities wasted by the Miners in their 1-0 win against M.O Bejaia.

Ashanti Gold secured a 1-0 win against M.O Bejaia of Algeria, courtesy Tijani Joshua’s 61 minute goal in the 1 leg of the CAF Champions League at the Len Clay Sports Stadium, Obuasi on Sunday.

The Miners dominated play and could have made the second leg easier if they had made good use of the chances that came their way.

Bashiru Hayford believes his side played well, but failed to meet his expectation by not scoring about 3 goals.

“My regret is that we had a lot of chances, but we managed to score only a goal, although I expected about 3 goals.

“I didn’t see Bejaia play any serious football here, so all that we have to do is to prepare very well for the second leg and I think we can make it to the next stage,” he said after the game.

Ashanti Gold will take on M.O Bejaia in the 2 leg in Algeria on 28 February.
