Joshua Ray Murphy, 25, of High Shoals, has been charged with two felony counts of breaking and entering a building by Lincoln County authorities, The Charlotte Observer reports.
Burglar leaves wallet and ID at scene of crime
Sheriffs deputies in Lincolnton, North Carolina had little trouble identifying a break-in suspect whose wallet and ID were left at the scene.
He got charged with another felony count each of larceny after breaking and entering, and possession of stolen goods.
He was jailed on $30,000 bail, and it is not known if he has an attorney.
The one thing he wasn't charged with was stupidity.
Joshua was said to have been startled by a homeowner, Rodney Allen Putnam, in a wheelchair on Monday as he stood in a bedroom closet after walking into the homeowner's unlocked house.
According to investigators, as the suspect ran, he snagged his bag on a door and it ripped, spilling Murphy's personal property about 50 yards away from the home he'd just robbed.
His case of stupidity is not uncommon.
