Channing Tatum pulled the most BRUTAL prank on his wife Jenna before he proposed
Channing revealed that back in 2008, he was preparing to propose to his then-girlfriend of two years, Jenna Dewan, who he’d met on the set of Step Up.
Well according to a recent interview, the actor went to some great lengths to make sure his surprise proposal wasn't ruined.
In an interview with BBC Radio1’s Nick Grimshaw this week, Channing revealed that back in 2008, he was preparing to propose to his then-girlfriend of two years, Jenna Dewan, who he’d met on the set of Step Up.
He had an elaborate plan, ready to get down on one knee during their vacation in Maui, Hawaii. Obviously she said yes, but there was a one not-so-ideal snafu along the way: “When I proposed to my wife I did something pretty cruel because I thought she was on to me. I basically told her I never wanted to get married to try to throw her off,” the Logan Lucky star explained. “I told her, ‘I don’t believe in the institution of marriage and I don’t think I ever want to get married.’ She basically broke down crying. I thought, ‘This is not going well at all’ so I had to propose to her sooner rather than later.”
Channing’s proposal ended up working perfectly. He flew their close friends in to surprise Jenna, and proposed in front of them with a gorgeous Neil Lane diamond. But, even more importantly, their marriage has been a success. The adorable twosome just celebrated eight years of marriage last month by going to a wilderness camp in the middle of Michigan, with their 4-year-old daughter, Everly.
The couple seems to be as in love as ever, with Channing choosing to post loving messages on social media instead of pranking his wife these days. On Jenna’s birthday, Channing posted a photo of the two of them under a rainbow, captioning it, “I'm not sure if this woman is my Rainbow or my pot of gold but I'm lucky either way happy birthday cake baby!”
And to celebrate Everly’s birthday, he posted a throwback shot of mom and baby shortly after the hospital.
To accompany that post he wrote, “She has such deep strength and other worldly grace. Watching her in those first days transform into a mother was life changing. She was every bit the beautiful, sexy, funny, flawed creature I fell in love with. But the prism turned and showed a whole new light that I had no idea existed, the light of a mothers love.” Swoon!
