Though still in active football, Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has started out the process of become a coach when he hangs his boots.
Mikel Arteta led a training session with the Wales Under-16 players as a course in his coaching badge
As his Arsenal teammates were in Germany receiving a thrashing from Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League, the 33-year-old Arsenal midfielder was leading a training session with the Wales Under-16 players as a course in his coaching badge.
Arteta has also been spending time with Arsenal’s Under-13 side at the Hale End Academy.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is clearly in support of the midfielder’s seeking a coaching badge.
“Mikel has a huge influence even when he is not playing,” the manager told Arsenal official website.
“He is super conscientious, and every morning two hours before training he prepares and that is absolutely right.
“Just through his behaviour, his focus on getting everything right in the team, he has a huge influence. He has great experience and is respected throughout the squad.
“I really hope Mikel considers going into coaching. When you manage, you want to see your players continue and see them give their experience and knowledge back.”
