WhatsApp, a Facebook-owned platform, led the way in this regard, announcing that it will end support for BlackBerry.

"While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don't offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app's features in the future," it said.

According to Innovation Village, BlackBerry users will need to update the Facebook apps on their devices by March 31, 2016 to continue using the platform. However, the app will just be a link to Facebook's mobile site and not a full-fledged app in the real sense of it.

Also, there will be no third-party apps for Facebook on the BlackBerry platform, just in case you were thinking of going that rout.

BlackBerry notes that Facebook had also decided to  "discontinue support of their essential APIs," according to Innovation Village. Too bad.
