Hearts of Oak started the game on the high, denying the away side an opportunity to settle in the game as they attacked them from all angles.
Against the round of play, Bechem United nearly stunned the Phobians as Abenego Tetteh struck the right post with the Phobians being left off the hook. A minute later Soulama Abdoulaye with a one handed save tipped Tettteh’s free-kick over the post.
At the other end Samuel Yeboah was denied by Ernest Adu, the away side responded with a swift counter-attack but Hearts of Oak defensive pair of Richard Akrofi and Robin Gnagne curtailed Yaw Mensah’s dangerous run.
With an end to end action, Samuel Yeboah made his experienced felt in the game when he side footed Isaac Mensah’s driven cross to the far corner to register the first goal of the game in the 37th minute.
Shortly after the goal, Bechem United threw a lot of men forward and they came close in getting the equalizer but Soulama rose to the occasion to parried away Yaw Mensah’s free-kick.
The Phobians held on to their lead as the first half ended.
Eight minutes after the break, Hearts of Oak doubled their lead through experienced Mustapha Essuman whose 22 yards drive took a wicked deflection on Akwasi Acheampong.
The Phobians then took total control of the game and in the 68th minutes Isaac Mensah finished off Samuel Yeboah’s pass to make it three for the Phobians.
However, Bechem United with three goals down swarmed a lot of men forward and soon pulled one back through John Nyamekye with 12 minutes to end the game.
Chances were far and few as the Phobians held on to their 3-1 lead to win the game.
