EC to publish names of deleted 'NHIS voters' on July 15

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Samuel Tettey, the Director of Electoral Services said apart from the dailies, the deleted names will be published in the district offices, as well as the Municipal, District, Metropolitan assemblies.

“District officers have been instructed to paste all the lists in their districts at the district offices of the commission, so they are to publish the list in all affected areas,” Samuel Tettey added.

He said the process is to offer the affected persons the opportunity to reregister.

According to him, the Electoral Commission will organise the re-registration of the affected NHIS card registrants at various district offices from July 18 to 28 of the same month.

He added that there will be data processing in preparation of the provisional register for persons who have re-registered from the July 29 to August 2, 2016.

The provisional voters’ register will be exhibited from August 5 to 7 of the same month.

The Supreme Court ordered the EC to delete the names of ‘NHIS voters’ from the register as well as those of the deceased and minors as part of processes to clean the register.It followed a suit by plaintiff Abu Ramadan and Evans Nimako at the Supreme Court over the credibility of the 2012 register of voters.
