The full name of Kotoko’s opponent CARA Brazzaville is Club Athlétique Renaissance Aiglon (CARA) Brazzaville.

It is a club based in Brazzaville, the capital city of the Republic of the Congo.

CARA Brazzaville was formed in 1935, the very year, Asante Kotoko was established making them to have a thing in common.

Their home ground is the Stade Alphonse Massemba-Débat, which is the national stadium of the Republic of the Congo.

They have emerged champions of the Congolese topflight league on 6 occasions: 1969, 1973, 1975, 1982 1984 and 2008.

They have not won the Congolese league for the past eight years, but within that period the Porcupine Wariors have won the Ghanaian league four times.

CARA Brazzaville defeated El Mahalla in the final of the African Club Champions Cup, now the CAF Champions League to become champions of Africa in 1974.

The feat chalked in 1974 makes them the only Congolese club to reign African football

They are three times winners of the Congo FA Cup:  1981, 1986, 1992.
