Police picks up Highlife legend George Darko

According to a source, George Darko and one other subchief Asonahene Kwasi Omenako are currently at the Eastern Regional Police Command at Koforidua.

One of Ghana’s Highlife legends who doubles as a subchief at Akropong in the Eastern region George Darko has been picked up in a swoop by the police and personnel from national security at the Akropong Palace in the Eastern Region.

He was picked up with one other subchief Asonahene Kwasi Omenako.

According to Accra-based Starr FM, a source confirmed to them that the 2 are currently at the Eastern Regional Police Command at Koforidua.

It is yet not clear why the 2 have been taken to the police station. However, there is a long-standing dispute over the rightful claimant to the Akropong stool. The impasse has often led to clashes between youth groups in the area who have declared support for different factions claiming the stool.
