Ghanaian player Michael Essien has taken to instagram to mourn the death of Ivory Coast international Steve Gohouri.
The 34-year-old who played against Michael Essien in the English Premier League was found dead in a river in Germany after being reported missing for two weeks.
The family of Steve Gohouri filed a missing person’s report after he failed to show up on a scheduled visit to Paris following a Christmas party on December 11 with his fourth division German side TSV Steinbach.
German police later confirmed Steve Gohouri’s body was found in the River Rhine with no indication of violence.
Michael Essien who played against the former Wigan Athletic player during his time with Premier League champions Chelsea wrote on social media:
‘Sad to hear this news. Rest In Peace “Steve Gohouri”’
