The former staff Rahman Ahmed stole the said money in electronic mobile money form. He did this between August 31 and September 2, 2016, at the Wa branch of the bank.

A circuit court in Wa has sentenced a 30-year old former staff of Stanbic Bank, Wa Branch to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing ¢297, 000 through electronic transactions.

Officials of the bank later found out about his shady deals and reported him to the police.
Ahmed was subsequently arrested and charged with stealing.
It was gathered that he invested the stolen money in a kraal at Poyentanga, a community sixteen Kilometres away from the Wa township and used the rest on a lavish lifestyle.

Prior to his conviction, counsel for the accused Clement Eledi pleaded for mitigation sentence but the trial judge will not take any of that.
The court was presided over by Baah Agyepong Forson.
