In the face of gender disparity in global architecture, Ghanaian architect chooses to mentor a female
Mariam Kamara is Adjaye's protégé as part of a Rolex-sponsored program

Ghanaian-born British architect, Sir David Adjaye has chosen Mariam Kamara as his mentee for the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative.

The programme also sees other top creatives such as Zakir Hussain and Crystal Pite who are into music and dance respectively. Literature expert Colm Toíbín also gets to mentor a protégé.
The mentors are expected to consult and collaborate with their mentees for a period of one year.
David Adjaye's mentee; Mariam Kamara obtained her undergraduate degree at Purdue University in Indiana and holds two master’s degree; one in computer science from New York University, and the other in architecture from the University of Washington. She currently works for united➃design.

Adjaye recently established the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C
