Yakubu Ayegbeni in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa wasted the best chance of the tournament after his teammate had done the difficult job in beating the South Korean goalie, but with an empty post, the Nigerian missed the goal post by some few inches.

Great players who score spectacular goals from several yards away from the goal post have also had their own share of the misses just in front of post.
