Okyeame Kwame, Gyedu Blay, Amadzeba, Sherifa Gunu, Efya Musicians Appointed Ambassador For AU’s “My African Union, My Voice” Campaign

CEO of One Mic Entertainment, Kwame Nsiah Apau musically known as Okyeame Kwame has been appointed as ambassador for “My African Union, My Voice” campaign alongside other musicians.

The “My African Union, My Voice” campaign forms part of the activities of the “State of the Union” (SoTU) – a Pan African Civil Society Organizations project which is currently being implemented in ten African countries including Ghana.

The official unveiling took place on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra and organized by the Institute of Democratic Governance (IDEG) in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration (MFARI).

Okyeame Kwame will be working with other celebrated musicians to help drive home the message of creating public awareness of the objectives of the African Union.

Also, to promote active citizen participation in the implementation of its protocols, conventions and policy decisions at the level of the 54 Member States of the Union.

The musicians include Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Amadzeba Nat Brew, Sherifa Gunu, Efya, Wiyaala and actress Nana Ama McBrown.

A campaign song ‘Be The Voice’ – ‘Osee Ye’ (Oh Say Yeah) composed by the musicians was also launched at the event.

Speaking at the launch of the campaign, Okyeame Kwame said he was glad of the opportunity for him to lead the campaign to be the voice of Africa.

“I would want to say a very big thank you to the African Union and IDEG for choosing me as a champion for ‘My African Union, My Voice’ campaign. I promise to be the Voice for Africa to inspire and to create a platform for change. I promise that through my music, my actions and in-actions i will remind My African Leaders of their promises to the people.”

The campaign ambassadors performed the campaign song live to climax the launch.
