Prez Akufo-Addo promotes fallen soldier; sets up Gh¢500,000 Fund

The president, Nana Akufo-Addo disclosed this when he paid a visit to the family of the deceased during the one-week celebration of the fallen soldier.

The government has also set up a memorial fund with a seed money of Ȼ500,000 for the welfare of the wife and children of Adam Mahama.

He indicated that a national monument will be erected in honour of the 32-year-old soldier who was lynched whilst on official duties at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region.

A state burial will also be held for Adam Mahama on Friday, June 9, 2017.

The president was accompanied by high-powered government delegation including Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo, Trade Minister Alan Kyeremanten, Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul, National Security Minister Kan Dapaah, and Women and Children’s Affairs Minister Otiko Afisa Djaba.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Defense Staff, Major General Obed Akwa has revealed that the Ghana Armed Forces has completed investigations into the death of the army officer.

He said that the report on his death will soon be forwarded to the Defence Minister for the appropriate action to be taken.

An Accra District Court earlier on Monday remanded the thirty-four (34) people suspected to have lynched the soldier last week.

The thirty-four suspects were charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder.

The case will be recalled on June 21, 2017.
